Delicates for DARCC DriveIn keeping with the Wellesley tradition of Day to Make a Difference, our Club is holding a donation drive to benefit the Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center (DARCC). We are collecting clean, never worn underwear, sports bras, and camisoles (i.e. “delicates”) in all sizes and encourage donations between now and September 22, 2018.
Why delicates? DARCC advocates meet survivors of sexual violence at Presbyterian Hospital and offer information and support as the survivors are examined by a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE). In the course of the exam, survivors’ clothes and undergarments are often collected as evidence. DARCC provides the survivors with clothes to wear home after the examination. By collecting Delicates for DARCC, our Club supports DARCC’s efforts to ensure that all survivors can begin their journey of healing in a dignified manner.
How can you contribute? We are accepting donations in three ways:
1. Collect clean, never worn underwear, sports bras, and camisoles and drop them off on September 22. Please only collect undergarments in their original packaging. More information about drop off points to follow.
2. Purchase an item off of our Amazon Wish List.
3. Make a monetary contribution that we will use to purchase new delicates for the campaign. Please make checks payable to “Wellesley College Club of Dallas” and write “Delicates for DARCC” in the memorandum line. Checks can be mailed to Wellesley College Club of Dallas, 2617 Gladiolus Lane, Dallas, TX 75233.
